I installed driver (filename SM56pcimodem.zip)&it gave ATI response however, when i dialed first time it turned on but nothing happened. I cncelled the process & tried again but got check modem error & response through modem properties received Port already open. re-installed driver but problem persists. Any suggestions?

Reply: (edit)Are you try to UNCHECK "wait for dial tone" under MODEM PROPERTIES?? On WIN XP go to Control Panel - Modem - Properties - Modem Tab - Dial Control - and there unmark "wait for dial tone".
