I purchased a Simple Technology PhotoReader Smart Media card reader when I purchased my digital camera. At that time, I had Win ME as an operating system and it worked fine. Now that I have upgraded to Win XP and for the life of me, cannot get the darn thing to work. I just keep getting wrong driver errors and a USB to PCMCIA error in the system hardware device settings. I went to "Driversguide.com" and downloaded new drivers. Now when installing the drivers, Windows states that it will not install them and I receive a "I/O device" error message when the cardreader is plugged in to the USB and I try to use it. Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any drivers for Win XP that will make this thing work? Or is there any advice anyone can give me that will help me? I was unable to find any relevant information on the Simple Technology website. Thanks!

Hi Antilla.
You didn't mention which model of card reader you have, but here is a page from the Simple Technology website that has a variety of different readers.

A couple have XP drivers. If those don't belong to your reader, try one with Windows 2000 drivers. Windows 2000 and XP are related and sometimes the Windows 2000 drivers will work in XP.
Also, make sure you uninstall any previous drivers. Then install the new drivers BEFORE you plug in the reader.
When you install the drivers while the reader is plugged in, there may be an error in the installation. Then when you try to reinstall the drivers, Windows won't let you because as far as it's concerned, the drivers are already there.
Take care,Linda
