Reply: (edit)I think your question would be answered better if you were to post it in the Windows XP forum rather than asking it in the Linux forum. I'm assuming your HD refers to your hard drive and or if it is a drive that requires software like Maxtor, you will need to install the drive with the software that came with the drive. You may want to re-post your question in the XP forum and be specific don't use abbreviations and be clear on the brand as well as size, model or anything else you can provide. Good luck !

Reply: (edit)First my apology for the error in Forum post as I was in Linux and forgot I was in the XP forum This may be something to consider, older drives and hardware are not compatible with XP so I would recommend looking at your HD, go to the manufacturer's website and see if there are new drivers. It has been awhile since XP has been out so it is very likely there is a driver that you can download and install for XP. If it is Maxtor, Seagate, Toshiba or another common drive you should find a correct driver for XP
