I bought this Seagate portable drive for my wife to celebrate our second year anniversary, my wife takes a lot of pictures I put pictures on the drive but I forgot my password. My wife has traveled around the world for 13years I dont wont to lose these pictures. Can someone anyone help me please. Ive called Seagate customer service and they say tough luck nothing can be done. If you can help a poor soul. Im willing to pay. kendwar@gmail.com Thanks

... encryption will make it virtually impossible depending if the files are encrypted or the software is just blocking access.
... you could download Ubuntu << click and run it off the cd ... do NOT install.
... it should see the usb external drive as you boot up with the ubuntu cd ... and if you're lucky it might bypass the encryption software . I have done this before and it worked; but it was'nt on an external drive. If you can enter the drive with ubuntu then you may be able to copy and paste the pictures to your drive, there may be permission issues.
... If it see's the pic's then you will be able to do it some how.
... I prefer to use this one "Knoppix" both are usefull tools!
