I trust there is someone out there that can HELP! I have a Packard Bell monitor with a 4:3 screen ratio and 13 in. viewable. My display driver is a: S3 Trio 64V2-DX/GX (775/785). (PCI). The only setting for screen size is 640 X 480. I have researched everywhere I can think of including S3's website. I downloaded the legacy driver but my computer 'tells' me that the one I have is the best. I got this computer 2nd hand and don't have any documentation so I didn't want to screw things up more by changing to an incompatible driver. But, it is a HUGE pain trying to view pages by scrolling up & down, and side to side!! Especially using AOL (screen hoggers). Does anyone know if this is a driver issue or a monitor issue? And can I use a different driver that will be compatible with my card? If additional info would help, I will provide what I can. P.S. the original owner assures me that he had it set at a higher resolution!?
Don't sweat the petty things...and don't pet the sweaty things.
It's not a monitor issue - regardless of whether or not the monitor supports higher resolutions, that won't be reflected in the display settings - you'd be able to set it, just not display properly (and it would have to be a fairly old monitor for that to happen)
Old card, old OS - possibly you don't have the exact driver, there were a few S3 trio cards as I recall
We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true
