I have readyscan 636i but have lost the software to download how can I get or can I get the software online?

Hi....From what I've been told, you DON'T want to try to install your CD when using Windows XP....It will cause your computer to crash....I was told to go on a search for the Driver for this particular scanner...I haven't found the link to do this with, but if I come across it, I'll be glad to send it to you...

Sent my computer into the shop. Now my ReadyScan 636i disc is completely blank and the scanner is not installed in my system. How can I get a disc to replace it and reload it into my system?

I'm joining the club. Been searching and cannot find the driver for Win XP.
Please let me know if anyone has found it.

This is how I got my readyscan 636i to work for me. (I have windows me)
Go here to download the driver:
http://www.sparta.rice.edu/~mflores
Extract the file and click on install.
Once it had been installed, left click on "my computer" and click on "properties".
Click on "device manager". Go down the list until you see "readyscan 636i" and click "remove". Click "yes", then click on "refresh" and restart the computer.
Any program you have that has the capability of scanning should recognize the scanner. I hope this helps.

This scanner came bundled with a Packard Bell computer we had. Worked fine on it. I formatted the hard drive several times and ended up downloading the drivers from the URL mentioned in the above post. After installing them, the device worked just as it had before.
I recently built a new computer and cannot get it to work correctly at all. Within Win98, it picks up the scanner when its plugged into the USB port and recognizes it as a Readyscan 636i. It then asks for 2 files from the Win98 disk, pmxscan.sys and pmxusb.cpl. Pmxscan.sys was found on the disk, but pmxusb.cpl wasnt, so I found it on the net and downloaded it.
Now, if you go to Camera/Scanner under control panel, the "test scanner" button is greyed out and the status is "unavailable". If you try to scan something within a program, any time you it "preview" or "scan" causes the computer to lock up.
Any suggestions?

Hi...When I first bought my computer it was Win 98. I recently upgraded it to Win. ME. Everything is woking fine, except the scanner. For some reason everytime I try to go to the program to scan an error message comes up saying the following:
"No Scanner or Camera has been detected.
If camera or scanner is installed, please verify that the device is properly connected." Then it says to go to control panel and Scanners and Cameras...and Add Device. I also tried that according to the directions. When it is copying the files. Another erroe message comes up saying:
"The file 'pmxscan.sys' was not found.
Windows needs the disk labled 'ReadyScan' to continue. This disk may be provided by your computer or device manufacturer."
I do not understand what I should do. I also cannot find a disk labled "ReadyScan" so is there any way I can fix this problem. Please get back to me ASAP. Thank You

XP is a whole new software environment. Most old devices either have support built into XP, or don't have support at all. Most newer devices still need driver updates, even brand new off the shelf, since they were packaged before the XP software was ready.
The "class installer has denied" error, seems to be an XP error, and you may need Tech support from your Manufacturer.
