I recently tried to reinstall my modem because of other issues, but unfortunately found out that I don't have the driver disk after I had already unistalled it. So, after a while of looking for drivers and such, I found my next dilema which is that windows 2000 doesn't even find my modem when doing a plug and play search or a regular hardware search. Did my modem get deactivated? Why isn't it detected?
Also, could it be I have the wrong drivers? All I know about the modem is that before it popped up in the Phone and Modem Options as a PCTEL Platinum v.90 modem, but i have no idea who manufactured it.
i am haveing some problems with my pctel v.90 also i connect to my isp then about 2 mins later it disconnects but if i set my port spped to 300 it seems to work fine what the hell is wrong with this thing?

How do I go about getting drivers for my Modem or drivers for Xp on a hole, to be able to connect to the internet from XP. Ho
I have this modem in my new computer, with Win XP. My last computer modem allowed me to set a setting that would not connect below a certain, user setting, speed. Is there a way to do that with this modem? My connection should connect at about 40k but will try and 26k.
I'm having the same issues with my Presario. Havent downloaded XP yet -- trying to problem solve beforehand. The advice above to go to http://808hi.com/56k/pctel.asp is a good one. There are still no drivers for XP but I found this comment that I am going to try - "Bryan in Wisconsin reports using Dell's Windows XP Driver V 2.40.022 for PCTel MDC V.92 modem with 'generic' PCTel HSP; this driver includes a Modem-on-hold applet and is located here." I'm not sure if it will work because my modem is PCTEL Platinum V.90 but I'm going to give it a try. Windows ME does not monitor my system resources very well and I've heard XP does a much better job.
