Hello,
I am having a problem with Win98 (original I think) reporting a missing driver for the "Pci System Manageet bus".

The mainboard is a Gigabyte Ga-7DX with an AMD-761 northbridge and a via 686 southbridge.
http://www1.giga-byte.com/products/pro_newamd.htm
The CPU is an AMD 1.13 Ghz 266 FSB chip.

I've installed all the drivers that came on the CD with the mainboard (ie. the AGP miniport driver, and the VIA 2.5.x.x IDE bus master driver? which comes as BOTH a minport driver and a VxD driver. I'm not sure which to install. I've tried miniport only and both. I'm about to try uninstalling the miniport. I don't know if the Via bus mastering drivers are mutually exclusive.

I've also tried installing the AMD bus master updates from the AMD website (Version 1.32) but this appears to be for AMD-756 Or AMD-766 only. I've tried searching the gigabyte cd manually to look for .inf files, etc. but I can't get into the .cab files that may or may not have the files I want (they are "non microsoft .cab files")

I've also tried updating the Mainboard Bios but that didn't help either.

Does anyone know where I can find the driver files or at least what they might be called?

I'm off to search some driver sites tonight to see what I can turn up.

Other stuff which might help to know:
-Corsair 256 MB CAS 2.5 DIMM
-Voodoo 5 AGP card
-Sound blaster Live X-gamer sound card
-Linksys 10/100 network card
-IBM 15.3 Gig hard drive
-Creative 52x Cd-rom
-Mitsumi 8x2 CDR

I figured it out. In case anyone is interested, I had to update windows with the 4in1 patch available from via (in the support section at cyrix.com) The patch allows windows 98 first edition to recognize the via chip or something like that. It also updates PCI IRQ routing or something like that. It's all in the readme file.

get the intel chipset software installation utility. here is the support page for the problem at intel: http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/20119395242319485.htm

Before you install it, make sure the problem device is listed in device manager with a yellow exclaim mark. If not, reboot and have windows re-detect it. When it does, just keep clicking "NEXT" through the driver install screens untill you click "FINISH". Then it should show up in device manager with a yellow mark. Now you can install the chipset inf utility from intel.

goto (www.via.com.tw) download the 4in1 drivers. This will solve your problems if you have a via chipset.

The only way to clear this up is to install the Intel Chipset drivers from the Intel website ~ once you have done that, you will be good to go! Trust me, I flapped on this forever! :)

I'm having the same problem : In device manager I have a yellow question mark with a yellow exclamation mark over it next to System Management Bus. I'm getting "PCI System Mnangement Bus driver missing" and I can't reinstall it because it can't be found on the Win98 cd or on my PC. I have an AMD 600Mhz processor.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks
