Has anyone got around this problem yet of retreiving the files for PCI Multimedia Video and Audio Drivers. Also when I re-install windows I have no audio drivers for windows so I am unable to install my Soundcard, if anyone can help on how to get this drivers and how to re-install my windows audio drivers please contact me at my email address. I reinstalled win98, and now when ever i start it a new hardware is detected saying, (PCI MULTIMEDIA VIDEO DEVICE) I search the whole of win98 cd for the driver couldn't find it, also serched the web for a driver no use, please some one tell me what the software is a PCI MULTIMEDIA VEDIO DEVICE????????and where can I find a driver for it??? And i lost the sound also.. my motherboard is ASUS branded. thank you very much

I "accidently" deleted the PCI multimedia drivers when trying to make win tv work, now i need them again i need serious help i would be very grateful if any one could help do i need to find some disc or cd or something like that

I installes Windows ME....and now ever I start it a new hardware is detected saying (Pci Multimedia Device/Pci Multimedia Video Device/Wave Device for Voice Modem)....but th eModem is succesfully installed. I searched in the whole of Windows ME CD and also the internet for the driver but couldn't find it. Where can I find a driver for it? Since this I do not have sound. Please help me ! Well, it finally happened to me. How in the yeck did I lose my "PCI multimedia device"? My system was working great and now, all of a sudden, I made a few changes to my system; and, Wham! My sound works for my media player, but, there is no sound for my games. At Windows startup, I get the message that the PCI Multimedia Device is missing. Help! Thanks

Ok, I am assuming that by mentioning a PCI Multimedia Audio Device, this is what is showing up for a hardware profile, rather than the actual soundcard. This is all depends on several things. Do you know who the manufacturer of your sound card is? If not, you could open up your PC, yank it out, and at least look at the Chip set manufacturer or look for a name-brand on the soundcard itself. So, you had Windows98 before? Did you completely start from scratch, or did you just re-install a fresh copy of Win98 over the existing one? If that is the case, you can go pointing a 'browse for drivers' to the \Windows or Windows\system area looking for those drivers that may still be there. If not, you really do you need to have the Disk, or CD with drivers on it from the manufacturer of the soundcard. If you don't have these, you may be able to go out to a Web site, like Soundblaster (If that is your card type) and download the drivers from their support area. good luck am glad i have a mac thats all i say :P

I had the same problem pci multimedia video device! Do you have a dvd player because i do and I had to install encore dxr2 drivers. you highlight it and hit properties and reinstall drivers and put your floppy in drive or cd . It fixed mine hope it helps.

grrrr. I decided to build my other half a new puter and things are ok. Modem installed, no problem. To be safe and not sorry I decided to get a Sound Blaster 16, figuring that should be simple....uh-huh. I even downloaded ALL the files they have for Win98 for this one but the system is still showing a device error code 28. trying to reinstall has done no good as it's still missing after 4 reinstalls and a lot of aggrivation. I have played the bounce between the creative install disk and win98 and the problem persists. I e-mailed Creative and they were no help whatsoever. Any answers available here? There is not much installed in the system and I have checked irq's and no problem there. Io believe that things were simplier when all ya had to deal with was DOS.

Hello....it is soooo frustrating I uninstalled windows me and installed windows 98....my nightmare has since began, with PCI multimedia audio device......it keeps coming up as a new device and to make it worse i have tried all i can to get the driver.....WHAT CAN I DO....please help before i throw my system into the TRASH!!!
