Reply: (edit)PCI Multimedia Audio Device is what most commonly called Sound Card or Sound Blaster. If you have the cd you can install it.If you don't have it try to find the model from an invoice,cd case or final open the case of your pc and check the model that it is written, the company or the chipset number. Give it that and i can check for your drivers on the net if you can find them! Did i helped you?

Reply: (edit)Have you found a solution or answer to the PCI Multimedia Audio Device? I have a SB PCI512 and the CD with software but it fails to resolve this issue. WWW searches for a specific driver are failures also. It seems several Win98se reinstalls months ago that this situation didn't exist.... But I'm not sure. Again I ask, did you find a fix?

Reply: (edit)I have the same problem. I installed a new modem and I can not locate drivers for what windows 98 identifies as PCI Multimedia Audio Device, PCI Communication Device and PCI Ethernet controller. I pulled the card and the only identifiable markings are "PC Net HT 2001 9932". I found a zipped driver at PCI, DM9102_NDIS5_v127 but so far it is not working for me.

Reply: (edit)DM9102_NDIS5_v127 got the networking part of the card working, but it seems I need another driver. I will let you know if I figure it out. I found by plugging the driver name into Google and going to PCI site.

Reply: (edit)im having the same problem. but this could easily be solved by installing something like windows me, 2000 or XP because they all automatically install the hardware. but since im on 98 right now i have to be primitive and manually search each and every driver. cant even find the tomato motherboard installer.

Reply: (edit)Hello, I was having the same sound card issues as pretty much everyone here. What I did was to go into the registry and from there it will give you some information to identify the sound card manufacturer etc so you can get the right drivers. This link should give you pretty much step by step instructions on how to do this. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q298837&GSSNB=1 Hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)To Who It May Concern: I bought a used computer that had been part of a business 9 years earlier. It had 432 secuity files that allowed very little use without a code...which I didn't have. I copied as many files onto the small disc that I could prior to having the computer reformated. Upon reinstalling the programs, there was no sound. The computer said the PCI Multimedia Audio device was missing. I found a mixer & installed it. Now it says there is no software to support it. I have been all over the internet looking for the driver and/or software. Where do I go from here?! Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give me. Doug F

Reply: (edit)Make sure you are on-line, then do the following Start>Settings>Control Panel>System Click on the Device Manager tab Select :- Sound, video and games controllers. Here you'll see the PCI Multimedia Audio Controller with a yellow question mark tag. Select this and then hit the Proerties tab. Under the General tab - you'll have an error message such as Device not working properly or similar. Click on the Driver tab and then select the Update Driver tab - then follow the instructions until you get to Location question - Select ONLY. This way Windows will access the web and you'll end up downloading NeoMagic MagicMedia 256 Audio to replace the PCI controller - and hey presto all sorted!

Reply: (edit)Maybe this can help someone. I'm a macuser and don't like to mess around with windows, but I guess sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do... A friend just gave me an old Siemens pc, celeron 466MHz. It's a piece of junk but what the heck. The HD was formatted when I got it so I started out by installing Win98 SE. No problems except no sound and the PCI Multimedia Audio Device driver missing. So I started looking for a driver by that name, only to find that it doesn't really exist. It's just the systems way of naming a device that it doesn't recognize. And all I knew about it was that it was onboard-sound on an unknown motherboard in a Siemens computer. So I went looking under the hood to see if anything obvious would show. Not really knowing what I was looking for I just guessed that it might be a chip and that it would probably be located somwhere near the speakers interface, i.e where the speaker jack goes in. I soon found a chip labeled Yamaha XG and knowing that Yamaha makes synthesizers it seamed like a good bet. So I then went to Siemens site looking for drivers. Found a Yamaha XG driver and installed it, problem solved. Maybe identifying chips first and then go looking for drivers could solve the problem for some of you guys to?
