Hi

Is it just my rotten luck or do the drivers for the Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 cause no end of problems ie. BSOD's?

I installed the ones on the disk that came with PC & got problems, installed the ones from Microsoft Update & got problems, installed the ones from Nvidia Web site (old & latest ones) & got problems.

Anyone have any suggestions other than ripping the graphics card out and smashing it to pieces???

Nadia

I had a look to see in there was any amd chipset driver nVidia conflict but didn't find anything there. I did come across these links below, which suggest the latest drivers don't suit the fx 5200

Hope their sugestions help you out.

I've checked out the other posts and installed the older drivers as recommended but I still have problems when I try to install any downloads. When my PC restarts I get Windows Error Report saying that the problem was caused by a graphics device driver.

Any other suggestions please?

Nadia

I just tried the latest drivers from nVidia on my FX5200 and got no end of BSOD.I went back to the old drivers and no problem. You have to uninstall the drivers before installing any others.

Hi

what is onboard video (sorry I'm not all that with PC's)?

I uninstalled 61.77 before installing 44.03 and disabled my antivirus whilst I installed them.

Having said all of that I just installed 2 case fans in my PC today because I had quite high temps - maybe this will help.

Hi

Can you post some computer details - brand /model of computer. This would be most helpful.

Also the brand / model of your motheboard. I know you state "AMD Athlon 3000+/512mb RAM".

If this is a built up machine - I'm going to have to know what motherboard you you have.

The onboard video (if there is onboard --video built into the motherboard-- ), may not be automatically disabled when a agp or pci video card is inserted.

Heat can have an effect, but an OS (XP in your case) won't complain by stating there is a problem with a hardware item.

Hi

Motherboard is ASROCK K7S8X - it's only 8 months old I bought it new from Ebay - unfortunately, the seller RICHOLU, has disappeared off of the face of the earth - so I can't contact him about these problems.

Thanks

Nadia

Hi

K7S8x

K7S8X R3

The all important drivers

I would install the agp driver. I hope that fixes things. If still stuborn -- you may need to redo your video driver and directx again after installing the agp driver.

Hi

I've installed the AGP drivers as suggested with the old 44.03 Nvidia drivers. So far so good. If I get any more probs I'll post again.

Thanks for your help.

Nadia
