When I installed my Nvidia display drivers I used the latest ones from the Nvidia site (Dec 03) but when using Windows Update it says that there are new drivers for Nvidia dated Oct 03, why is this when the ones I have are newer than WU is telling me?

Hi Andy.

I believe the driver manufacturers' send their updated drivers to Microsoft for use in the Windows Update site.

Nvidia may not have done so yet with the latest driver so Windows Update only reflects the last latest update from Oct.

Or Nvidia may have sent the latest Dec. drivers but Microsoft may be testing them (Windows: WHQL) before adding them to the Windows Update page.

Take care,

Linda

Beware ...I am running the Nvidia 4200TI 4x 128 MB and Asus A7n8x-delixe Mobo Win2k Pro and every time I install the "latest" windows video driver from windows update.. I get major performance loss ...I am talked 20+FPS loss in Counter Strike 1.6 . Good news ..I uninstalled and went to Nvidia website and downloaded the latest drivers and hmmm they work like a dream ..... now windows hs posted another Dec 23 2003 and again ...junk drivers ... so I went back to Nvidia website ...again got the latest drivers and restored my performance ... I don't think I am doing the "windows" update for my Nvidia drivers again.

If I go to the Nvidia website to download the newest drivers, do I need to have already unistalled the drivers I already have??

(Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I really have no clue.)
