null soft direct sound output v.2.6

Specs: Windows XP

I have no sound,instead Error code 88780078.
In an attempt to get some free space on drive C I deleated some software among others the Realtek RTL 8139/810x fast Ethernet Nic Driver.
Is that the missing driver in my system to hear sound?
And if so is there any link to reinstall for truly free?
Many thanks for your advice.
