heard one way to speed up your connection is to make sure you have the most recent updated driver for your NIC card.
checked at »www.drivershq.com/main_home.html
to see if my NIC driver has an update, it's a CNET PRO200 PCI FAST EHTERNET ADAPTOR, VERSION 045, 9-20-2000. at the site above it shows 4 adaptor update versions,,, a,b,c, & d, with an update, date.
question is, do i choose the most recent date? or which one. i downloaded "D" being the most recent date showing. haven't installed it as of yet, until i find out if i have the correct update.
how would i back my current driver up, in case this newer version causes me problems, and re-install if needed. i should un-install the current 1st, before i install this new version, correct?
and if i do un-install old driver,,, not sure which one, when i check "driver file details, a bunch of different files come up,,
c:\windows\system\vmm32.vxd(ntkern.vxd)
shows, "not available"
c:\windows\system\NDIS.vxd
shows, "microsoft association"
c:\windows\system\DM9PCI5.SYS
i click on this last one, shows it from cnet technology'sany help or info, would be appreciated
thanks
don
