Recently, I reinstalled XP and while installing the newest nForce 3 drivers (version 5.11) my pc suddenly rebooted (without completing the installation) Scandisk scanned my drive but couldn't find any defects. So I tried reinstalling the drivers and everything works except for deactivating my LAN-connection or un-/reinstalling the ethernet drivers. Whenever I try this, my PC reboots. I can uninstall all the other board drivers like IDE, GART, audio etc. just not the ethernet drivers.
I'd like to be able to deactivate my LAN-connection without having to fiddle with the file and printer sharing everytime I want to play a game.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,it sounds like you have a ME or older OS ...To do such you can Right Click My Computer>Properties>HardwareTab>DeviceManager>NetworkAdapters click + >doubleclick on your card> on bottom of that windows click dissable. It will always go online when you reboot, so you have to do this every time, I hope this helps! Nic(Crunch's wiz kid) :)

Sorry I misread I thought you had Older OS. On XP go to control Panel>Networks(OR) NetworkConections>DoubleClick on your internet connection icon (ie: local area connections)>properties>check the box at bottom (show Icon) Or if you dont want the icon just double click your connection and click Disable (might want to make a shortcut of that on your desktop)

Thanks for answering but I know how to disable my connection. My problem is, that everytime I try, my pc crashes and reboots. And I'm also not able to re- or uninstall the network drivers, because the same happens.

If you havent solved the issue here's the way i fixed the same problem i was having. Download a older version of the nforce 3 drivers uninstall everything but the ethernet, restart and f8 to boot into safe mode with no networking and uninstall the ethernet driver that way. Then reboot and install the older nforce 3 drivers

Was wondering what kind of mother board you had that was doing this. I actually ran into the same problem in trying to uninstall, it would crash and reboot etc. I have a k8n-e mobo, just wondering what version did this, and if you ve updated your bios as well?
Also did re-intstalling through safe mode correct the problem?
