Comment:
I need some good drivers for the SB0220 sound card. I have some installed but it does not play in 5.1 sound with 5 speakers and a subwoofer. I have all the connections made right: 3 cables from the SB0220 sound card to the 5.1 speaker system. No 5.1 sound, just 2 front and a little sub. Some places say it is OEM, but it would be wise to support those as well in order to retain customers. Creative should not sell the SB0220 (which is sold as a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 OEM) without supporting with drivers that allow the hardware to actually do what is advertised: Play 5.1 speakers. Thank you
MM, im sure he has it right. I got mine today, SB0220 as well. The center and sub does not work. The drivers supplied are not in working order for XP. I need drivers as well, or i will put creative in my rubbish bin where they ought to be for not supporting something which has THEIR name on it... email me wolfy at rainstorm za net if anyone finds anything....
I've a SB0220,too!XP didn't recognise it and I had to find the basic drivers that XP had in their driver-list manually! Now,the problem that I have is that only the right speaker! It'd be very helpfull if someone advised me what to do!Thanks!
You can receive the basic drivers to make your Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital work at:
http://www.driverguide.com/
However, the site doesn't have the Creative Playcenter that will allow you to utilize the advanced features of your sound card. If anyone knows where I can a copy of creative playcenter, on CD preferably, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have a copy of "Play Center" on CD. It also comes with the drivers for SoundBlaster Live! series, but for some reason it doesn't recognize the SB0220 card, so it won't load the drivers off this CD. I work for a company that uses the SB0220 as an OEM, but the drivers are preloaded in the OS. Haven't had the time, or the privacy to dig through it, and figure them out. I'm not giving up though.
I've had problems with 2 of theses cards. Binned the first thinking it was broken, now got the same problems with a new one.
Huge latency problems using the supplied drivers, slighhtly better with directX but no ASIO. Is this normal ? I'tried the kproject drivers, and playback is fine, but recording is disactivated whatever parameters i change. Also tried unidrvpack drivers, still no good.
For those who don't need to record audio and whose speakers don't seem to work - be sure to inverse them in the kmixer (the default reverses quadrophonic pairs so no output from 1 +2)
Anyway, has anyone found a reliable low latency driver for XP on this card? or Linux?
