yes the operation system is window xp
motherboard vendor is compaq deskpro EP/SB series
board model is compaq 041ch

the computer sound card stop working the computer pick it up as PnP sound Card but i dont have the CD with the driver for it since the computer is old I have it for a while so i am serching the net for this driver and cannot find it so i am asking you if u know where i can find the driver for it

... make sure mute is unchecked!...click Audio (tab)
... under "Sound playback" Default device is it blanked out?
... if you click it ...can you toggle between another device?

... have you ever had sound on it? ....win95 yes
... if you had sound with XP on it before try this before you download anything
... go to start run (type) devmgmt.msc [ENTER]
... do you see any yellow markers by the +sound if not go back to "Response Number 10" and follow steps there as you should be able to toggle and have sound.
... if you do have yellow marker right click update driver...
... and see if it finds it .... if you had sound before it should.

... try above first... you maybe lucky click>> Download then click the black download when you get there 2.6MB
... download, save to harddrive and install it reboot...
... then click>> 2nd Download same as before and reboot 14MB

ok for respond no 10 this what is showing me
no playback devices
no recording devices
no midt playback devicesit is an additional sound card it is not made on the motherboard it a card that can be removed
in the device manager it is there but it have a yellow some thing look like a pad lock and yes it is yellow and the name beside it is PnP sound chip
i hope these information is what u asking me for
