Help..please!!! just a beg. in computers. bought an ibm computer from a store that "strips" them down?? and then resells them to the public. also. bought the disc to install windows xp. (had 98 prev.??) shows up at first when i turn on. then after that it just says "no device driver found" no valid cd rom device driver selected??? sooo, confused. had a couple people try to help. no luck!!! it will not do nothing else,even in dos.
You don't normally require DOS to install XP - if your CD drive is working, and can be set as the first boot device, simply boot from the XP CD and take it from there
If it's your intention to install 98, then a Win98 boot disk is the way to go - assuming your CD drive is:
a) working
b) standard IDE
You'd probably be further ahead to post in General Hardware - that, and decide which OS you're going to go with
