I'd like to add a good PCI video card to this old NEC Ready desktop and bypass the integrated video that comes on this Packard Bell board. Is this possible? Or will the Bios still demand the integrated video?

Take a look at your BIOS and see if there is a option to disable the intergrated display adapter ! In my situation there was no option in the BIOS to disable , however I did set it to PCI Frist as the preferred display adapter. My M.B. had no AGP slot , so I had to go with PCI .I purchased an ATI RADEON Graphics card. I did disable the onboard graphics (i810) in device manager , under display adapters, I then rebooted my system running Windows Me and it automatically installed the standard VGA software, I then proceeded with the install of the PCI graphics card. The improvement over the 4M.B. intergrated graphics was ten fold , even with PCI. Good Luck,Nick
