My 256 color is gone! Driver Prob.?

I need help. I was playing a comp. game that obviously needed 256 color. I was playing it when it all of a sudden shut off, and it went straight to my desktop, which is now all screwed up, because my 256 color is gone now! Could it be my driver (LT RageProII)? Can drivers burn out like that? Anyway, thats the only thing I can think of, because my computer wont even give me an option for this color anymore. Please, please, please help. Thanks
go to the device manager and make sure the video adapter is telling you that the video card is still there if it is then the driver might have been over wrote if not then pull the card and reinstall. uninstall the driver in add and remove programs if still there and reinstall the video driver. also make sure your computer is compliant in the requirements for the video card.
