Comment: Does any know how to modify wireless driver settings. I would like to increase TX power a little at a time. I'm using a buffalo 300n nfinity card. I'm trying to over cook it, just want a little more control over the power output. Broadcom chipset. Is there any software out there that can do this, and more?

Reply: (edit)The short answer is no you cannot. It's not the divers that determine power output but the hardware as designed by the manufactures. All wireless devices have a maximum output power as determined by radio regulatory authorities. Exceed this maximum and you could fall foul of the law. However there are steps you can take to take maximum advantage of the power available and that means having an efficient antenna. You can do that by replacing the standard antenna with a hi-gain antenna. With wireless interface cards this can be a little difficult but a lot of wireless routers have the facility to replace the standard antenna with a more efficient one. A search on Google for hi-gain wifi antennas with give you some indication of what is available. Stuart
