Spyware and viruses recently got into my Acer Travelmate and I noticed that it destroyed some drivers for its modem/dialup that is causing my internet connection to disconnect after 1 minute. I've tried reinstalling with my restore cd, but guess what? My cd r/w isn't working eihter. I'm nearly sure that the dialup problem is because of the missing drivers, somewhat certain hte same with the cd r/w. Can anyone please help me with what drivers I'll need to reinstall and what else may be wrong iwth my cd r/w? Thanks.

What do you mean exactly by you 'CDRW isn't working'? Is it not recognised by your laptop? (possibly hardware problem). Is there an asterisk against it in Device Manager? (driver problem but your CD drive won't rely on specific drivers - Windows will use generic ones.) Does it spin but just not recognise the disk you put in? (does this happen with all disks?, in which case it's your Restore Disk which is faulty).
