Comment: Hi people, anyone seen a driver for the Dman 2044 on Win2k or winXP?. Any generic drivers would be ok, I've seen some programmers on forums threatening to write some, but no joy yet. Thanks

Reply: (edit)I called midiman. The responce I got from them is that win2k doesn't support the dman2044 because the guy that designed the device "locked it" and he's no longer with the company. What a line of "BULL"! Extremely frustrating spending money on a product that doesn't stand behind what they make. We need to persue this company. Any ideas??

Reply: (edit)I need a driver for my DMAN 2044 as well. We should ask Midiman to give us a new card so we can continue to create! This is BS... Hire the programmer back for a new driver and get on with it! I recommend calling Midiman and making a fuss so I took the liberty of supplying thier contact information: Mailing Address: Midiman/M-Audio 45 East Saint Joseph Street ( Map of this address ) Arcadia, CA 91006 USA Contact: Calvin Banks / Technical Support Manager (no sales questions please) Phone: (626) 445-8495 Fax: (626) 445-7564 Go here for more contact info: http://www.midiman.net/company/contact.php

Reply: (edit)I work tech support for a hardware / software company. I called today, was informed that the 2044 was not supported in XP. After a small debate with one of their sales staff ( basically my stand was, support for a product does not stop at the end of the product sales line ) I was offered " gold sales status " pricing for the Delta 44. 171.00 US. I know what the 44 retails for, Is this a deal I can live with? I really like their product, even though we have come to this uncomfortable crossroads, and I also realize that a company sometimes has to let go of the past, in order to move on. I asked for open source code, if they don't want to support it, let it go. They seemed to respect my knowledge of the product, but at the same time, acted as if they had planned for the complaints to roll in. Please respond soon, I'm at a point where I will be purchasing something by the end of the week. gary7

Reply: (edit)Read this trough the end !! This company has told me that they will be able to do a driver for 3500$ USD and about 6 to 8 weeks (www.artlogic.com). That's the only way.... Do you know that this card was supposed to have ONBOARD DSP REVERB & CHORUS but it doesn't !!! So you paid for onboard DSP and you get nothing....I argued with them and have many proof of that...they offered me a deal on the Delta 44....but it is really a case of "FALSE PUBLICITY"...it is strictly illegal.....let this argument become popular...

Reply: (edit)The first drivers I´ve got had some reverb and chorus. While playback in windows, soundblaster. By the way, the company who could do the alt. driver. (excuse my bad English please...) Do You know if there any other companys who does drivers... maybe cheaper. And maybe we could together try to finance new drivers... 30$ is what I think it could be worth.. if the drivers support some good way to use the reverb and chorus DSP, then maybe it´s worth a little more money. There must be many dman2044 users round the world who wants drivers... Maybe someone could start a good forum on Yahoo or something... Sorry I have no time.. and to bad English fo that... I hope people keep writing here at least. Jesper

Reply: (edit)This MIDIMan corporation is obviously unfamiliar of the concept of post-purchase service. All of the new windows platforms do not support this device (the old ones like windows 98 didn't do a great job either). It is their responiblity to ensure that their device works properly and to ensure that customers are satisfied with their product. I am not. The amount of troubleshooting I've had to put up with from this device is abselutely unacceptable. Send a message to MIDIMAN that you won't stand for their business strategy of product "planned obsolescence" and ignoring customer demands! Here is contact information: Mailing Address: Midiman/M-Audio 45 East Saint Joseph Street ( Map of this address ) Arcadia, CA 91006 USA Contact: Calvin Banks / Technical Support Manager (no sales questions please) Phone: (626) 445-8495 Fax: (626) 445-7564

Reply: (edit)Obviously Midiman is not going to support their dman card, nor are they going to be developping drivers any time soon. Now on the upside, I'm willing to program a linux driver for it, but I need basic technical information on the card. If someone has the time would you please contact midiman and request information for driver development purposes and forward all information to isox@chainsawbeer.com. The more people that do this the better, as I'm hoping different people will get different information then I have. Hopefully I can put it all together to get enough info to create atleast a driver that will give you basic functionality of sending/receiving audio.

Reply: (edit)I'm also desperate for this drive. I've noticed that the driver was originally made by an aparently small company called 'Doug Fetter Software Wizardry' (http://www.software-wizardry.com ). I got this information from the DMAN2044.DRV file. Might be worth emailing them to see if they can help.
