I'm having problems with my onboard sound using linux mandrake 9.2. Theres a really loud hissing when a sound attempts to play. Sometimes, it will play the sound normally, so I'm thinking its have to be a driver. I dual boot with winXP and mandrake, and it only happens in madrake. XP is fine.

My system specs:
ecs k7s5a pro (v 5) -- Cmdedia ac97 onboard audio
xp2000+
1024MB pc2700 ram
gefore 3 ti200
80gig WD hdd

So, is there any thing I should be checking out in linux? Sorta a n00b
