Reply: (edit)Slow down a bit! 1. Why are so sure you do not have the correct sound drivers? 2. Does the little speaker icon show in your system tray - down by the clock on the right bottom of your screen? 3. Start, Control Panel, Speech, Sound and Audio Devices, Adjust the Sound Volume - check that "Mute" is NOT ticked and the slider is set to High, what does it say under "Audio" Try these first then we can have a look under Device Manager next.

Reply: (edit)OK - we have established that you have no sound devices "working". That explains no speaker symbol and lack of other entries Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, System, Hardware, Device Manager, expand Sound Video and Game Controllers 1. What is writen here? 2. Is there any yellow exclamation mark against any of the entries?

Reply: (edit)Have you been here? http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp Download the drivers and remember where you save them to. If I were you I would uninstall the sound card (via Device Manager), remove any details of the card via Add/Remove programs and reboot. When the computer restarts and finds new hardware (your sound card) direct it to wherever you saved the drivers and let it load them in OR via Device Manager, right click the sound card and select "Update driver" and direct it to wherever you saved the driver above. Does this make sense??

Reply: (edit)But in response #6 you state your card is a Creative Sound Blaster PCI 128! If you go to the link I gave in #7 then 1. At 1. select "Sound Blaster" 2. In the next column select "Others" 3. In the next column select "Sound Blaster PCI 128" then click "Next" 4. Select "English" as your language, Operating System as "Windows XP" then "Driver" under "File Type" then "Go" 5. Select "2" - download the "driver only" option and save it somewhere you can find it easily again!!

Reply: (edit)Download "Everest Home" from http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=1&lang=en You should find your sound card details under "Multi Media" In fact, Everest will give you much info about the innards of your system!!
