Need "Intel 82850 Host-Hub Interface Bridge Device (A2 step)" driver if it exists, as all the standard Intel chipset packages fail to corrctly identify this device.
I canot find any '.inf' files that contain any reference(s) that would point the windows hardware installation sequence to the right driver or enable winXP to recognize it correctly!
I used the freeware 'Unknown Device Identifier 5.02 to see what the hell the device was, as it simply shows up in device manager as an unknown 'PCI Modem'; is it being correctly identified or is something else amiss in software ?
I suspect that this might involve the mobos' onboard Realtek AC97 chip, but this has been disabled in the bios as it causes all sorts of problems when enabled...
[Currently using a Philips PSC605 Sonic Edge reliably]
At the moment I'm still investigating this issue...
