I have just bought a card reader to read the sd card of my digital camera on the pc. The card reader does not come with the software. The Windows 98 SE system also does not have the driver. Could anyone advise where can I look for the driver on the internet. Note that the card reader has no brand.

This is not going to solve your initial problem but i noticed the spec of your system and it could quite easily run WindowsXP, if you install this/upgrade then your system should have no problem recognising any card reader. Other than that i dont think you will have much luck finding drivers for a device with no name, you could always try opening the unit and looking if there is anything on the board that tells you who made it. This would of course invalidate your warranty though!
