Comment:

I have an intel 865GBF motherboard with integratedintel extreme graphics. Processor is P4 2.4Ghz with HT. I use the latest BIOS and video drivers available on the intel website, but whenever i play a game, the system freezes if running windows98 or reboots if runninng XP after about 20 or 25 min. Over heating cannot be a problem as I have checked that the fans work fine. The error report in XP says:

I have the exact same motherboard at home and our company offers systems with the same motherboard. This problem is not "Driver's fault".

*Windows 98 Does NOT work with HT. You must Diable HT suppot if you are using Win98.

*Does your system freez, or crash during normal usage (not in 3D mode ie. games). If it still crashes in a clean installation of windows XP with the latest drivers, you should be looking for Hardware problems like Memory.you must only use HIGH QUALITY DDR memory with new intel 865 and 875 chipset. I suggest Crucial or Kingston (only brands that I have tested and works so far). Generic type meory will coase you instability of the entire system.

Hope this helps

Thank for replying.
It may not be a driver problem after all. I stopped having this error when I changed the following in my BIOS
SDRAM RAS# Act. to Pre = 7 (old=6)
SDRAM RAS# to CAS# delay = 4(old=3)
SDRAM RAS# precharge = 4 (old=3)
I know these will slow things down in my computer but not it is stable in all 3d games and i have`nt had the infinite loop error since then.
Maybe my RAM is bad:)
