I am looking for the audio driver for my eMachines 720. It is for Windows 2000, the computer is a dual boot between Win 2000 and XP. Sound is working on XP and says the driver is the Intel 82801 BA/BAM AC '97 Audio Controller. Windows 2000 is suggesting a driver called SoundMAX Intergrated Audio but after installing it and restarting it says SoundMAX would not start. eMachines and Intel websites no help and I have spent well over an hour looking for this driver. Any help.

Hi

Well in my locale, emachines are rare. (like I've never needed to work on one)

Well Intel can't help as the audio driver is more than just the chip. It varies, so Intel leave it for the manufactures to supply their own driver.

Yes I found emachine support site - difficult. (if you are interested in e 720) Maybe there are other numbers that represent some product model but .. If you put out a machine that people refer to as emachine 720 - you'd think that; in the support site this would be referenced/indexed somewhere in the site. I would have to give the award for the dumbest support site -- to emachine -- appears to support all but emachines. I went through both the desktop and notebook options and couldn't find any reference to e 720. ( Or any other components that might have helped in identifing what the emachine model was.)

Anyhow found a emachine link that lets you see most of the models on offer

After a while I looked in Gateway as they have bought "emachines"- "Just in case what I was looking for was there."

I found the unofficial site for emachines
Bookmark it. Its a great site. Hope it stays that way.

Found under UK models.
