Computing.Net Participants,
I would like to install the latest drivers for my nVidia GeForce FX5950 Ultra 256MB graphics card, since it appears that this card causes numerous freezes and crashes. I say this because when I replaced the 5950 with an old 64MB card, the freezing and crashing stopped. One of the first messages I was getting with the 5950 was something to the effect "Graphics card receiving insufficient power...." After the company supposedly fixed the problem, I no longer get this message. But the computer still froze and crashed. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the nVidia site. I am a novice so I have 2 questions at this point:
#1--Do I first uninstall the old drivers before installing the new?
#2--Does the FX5950 have to be connected to the computer during the install?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes you're AGP card should be connected during the installation. Yes you should remove previous drivers before the installation of a new card. You may have and underpowered power supply for that card. It's possible that the +12v rail is too low for that paticular card.
