installing 2nd hard disk on xp..problems

after going through the automatic installation that xp does...it says one of the driver filters is invalid. how do i over come this problem? i asked maxtor and they said they dont do driver for new opp systems. i hae to get it from microsoft..how do i do that?

Well, if I understand XP as far as I can throw my computer I believe this is how you can over come this. First install XP with one hard drive. After a successful installation connect the second drive and boot with a bootable floppy disk with commands--I prefer Win98. FDISK your secondary drive. Load XP and format the secondary drive. Just few things as a reminder. 1) ALWAYS BACK UP!!! 2) BIOS setting on drive is set to AUTO 3) JUMPER settings on both drives are CORRECT!!!
