I bought a new hard drive for a HP Pavillion xt375 Laptop.
Here is the error message that comes up..'Media test failed, check cable'...also the hard drive is NOT detected in BIOS....it is a master too.
I would like to know how I can check to see if the IDE Cable is attached properly...I can barely see it by flashlight thru the disk drive slot LOL..how do i get to it?
When I use the recovery cd, i get this error message..' error encountered while creating save to disk partition'... then this prompt..'X:\TOOLS\S2D>_' ..I have no idea what that means!
Im sure the IDE cable is my whole prob..but how do i fix it?? LoL

Hi have you put original hdd back in to see if you get the same error ?
If the other hdd does not receive the error media test failed. It is very possible you put in a faster hdd and the IDE cable needs to be a 80 wire vice the likely 40 wire cable. You might be able to go into bios setup and select a slower speed for the drive, if the IDE cable can not be replaced by you.
