Why does windows XP keep detecting and install the wrong drivers for my modem. It dectecting a Pctel Platinum v.90 modem and I have a Pctel Micromodem.
When I tried to uninstall the Platinum modem thats whem all hell breaks loose. XP reboots rediculously!
ANY SUGGESTION ???????????????

You problem could be solved by doing just one thing ! "INSTALL THE WIN 2000 DRIVERS for that modem. Fixed my problem."

You can get the sound drivers from www.cmedia.com I downloaded the CMI8738 and that worked out fine for WinXP.

I installed the hsp56 drivers for windows 2000 in my armada 100s with windows xp, it works, and i can connect to my ISP but doestn download anything. 1 or 2 minutes later, the modem disconnect me for my isp.
I try setting the Fifos and nothing seems to work.
Any Help?

PLEASE help me.
I have windows 2000 drivers... but windows will not recognized my modem... i try to query modem and it does not detect it.
Before on ME the modem was on com 3. windows will only let me have com 1 and 2... no possibility of 3.
Its like my modem and the port is on is a GHOST. nothing... i installed 2k drivers and all.
Please help me.

if you have an *up to date* BIOS rom pack.. and the newest drivers signed for the HSP56 before you make the jump to XP.. it should be fine.. after the install.. install win2k PCTel HSP56 drivers.. should work like a charm.

sorry, but I've think have a solution ;-)
If we install in first Win 2k, and configure the modem HSP micromodem under Win 2k.
After, actualising win 2k in win XP, the drivers Win 2K will be able "ok" for the transition for XP and the changements of win 2K will be run after under XP ?
Well, sorry for my bad english, because i'm a french man !

I found these drivers at http://www.pctel.com/downloads/drivers_download.htm
At the top of the page there is a list of drivers and for Win XP it shows unsupported but if you scroll down the page you will find the XP driver download link and an installation document link.
I haven't tried them yet but hopefully they will work.

PCTel Platinum is the drivers for XP. It's just a name change for the Micromodem. Everything is the same; if you went to the PCTel website (pctel.com), you'd see that they supply the Platinum drivers for your original HSP56 Mircromodem.

my system detected my hsp56 micromodem and installed the xp drivers directly from the o/s. it calls it an hsp56 micromodem in my device manager as well. i am running windows xp pro and this little modem is working great with the xp drivers that came with my windows o/s. one more thing, i did see downloadable xp drivers at pctel's website in the driver area but only for the micromodem

I have Mitac 6133s with Windows XP and HSP K56 flex Pnp modem (this it the name of drv in windows ME)the XP find the modem as HSP MICROMODEM and installs automatically.
The diagnostic tests works fine but when i try to connect to my ISP doesn't download anything. 1 minute later, the modem disconnect me for my isp. I try to phone call to my cellular but Nothing again the cellular not ringing at all..
Any Help? Any link for drivers?

Hello I'm from tepic nay mex.
I found the way to configure the HSP56 micromodem for Windows XP, the way is the following one with the cd of installation of the card SIS the version of the CD-ROM it is V3.3C1, with that CD-ROM you the HSP56 alone MicroModem can configure they have to suppress it from the administrator of devices and to execute the automatic installation of hardware addressing the route to the CD-ROM and when asks them that if in any way wants to continue alone they press in yes and that's all, in a same way the sound if its mainboard is a SIS 5578.

I have all drivers for Hsp, my o\s sees my modem. I had Win Me and all worked great, when I upgraded to Hp, he saw modem, said something about digital signing, but he installed modem. Same on Win2k. When I connect to my ISP everything is ok, but when I want to disconnect my computer halts and I can't do anything. Any solutions? Please mail me to asasha@yubc.net!!

Mi PC es un intel celeron, que trae el modem en el board, cuando le doy a instalar modem no lo reconoce automaticamente sino que lo debo seleccionar de una lista, luego de realizar la conexi�n e intento conectarme a internet mi PC me envia un mensaje diciendo que no se puede establecer conexi�n debido a que no encuentra ning�n modem, ya he intentado de todo y sigue el mismo problema. Que puedo hacer?
