Waaay back when, got an HP 5100c scanner and inside the package was scanner drivers for Win 3.1, Win 95 and Win98. Had to install a new hard drive recently and thus lost that once working info. Problem now is that the disks give error messages, and will not load up in Win 3.1 The only driver for this scanner I can locate is for Win 95/98. Is there a Win 3.1 driver available anywhere on the web any more? HP no longer supplies information or updates for anything having to do with 3.1 Wm

Hi First noted your post here and tried fairly hard to find a driver, only to conclude the search ability of any search engine has almost reached useless. (they've been tamed down I believe, so searches don't infringe on MS ware) I noted your past over at the 3.1 win forum. Have decided to try a different approach. What are the file names of the 3.1 drivers on floppy. I'd imagine the names are still intact. Somewhere these files have to be archived, and a couple of different search strings might let google find something on WWW. Also -- If you could publish the file names others who have a 5100c without the live floppy, may be able to carry out a P2P search on private machines.

Hi Spent the day going through some good ftp sites that I'd bookmarked earlier. None had come to light via google. (sigh - sign of the times, searching manually) Did lead me to find a number of older hp scanner files. (some even dated 1990) The puzzle is most of the downloads are a single file not designed to be split amongst floppies. The few I do find which are floppy sets - list other scanners. I would suspect that one of the other driver packages will suit the 5100c. Anyhow without feedback, I think there is little point in searching any further. What I need is a model number, or some files names which are specific to the 5100c driver floppies. If you have the original disk - the title would be great as well. This may or may not help the power limited search engines on offer these days. A year ago, I would have found the files in some of the more obsecure (old bookmarked) ftp sites I went through today, in the first minutes of searching. Some ftp web searchs have been removed completely, and google has moved to search via links. Some sites are also restricting access of web crawlers as well.

Hi Yeah have put another few hours in out of curiosity. At some point someone is going to collect and lable all the various hp drivers into a single page. [ A big task ] I noted a lot of the older drivers cold install into either 3.1 or 95. I'm going to assume this would be true for the 5100c driver. There are many 95/98 drivers floating around. Some pages refer to sj259, sj263 is the PrecisionScan Scanning Software. Anyhow on a second detailed look, I noted a driver listed for 95. I'd guess this may be suitable as a 3.1 driver as well. (I see the disk 1 lable, this may be only part of a set ??) Please try it and let us know if it works for you. Driver listing
