Hi Computing.net,
I have been having problems with my printer since I bought it - which has been more than a year ago. I bought it at radioshack.
It's a HP C3180 Photosmart printer. it's connected with USB... here are notes from problems that I've had which explain it (in the past I recall updating the drivers and that didn't help:)

I had to unplug and plug back in the printer - and I'm not sure about the whole 'use printer offline / online' thing

after I finished installing the printer - it detected the device again and installed a new printer - a copy of the previous one.

even when I had all the other USB devices unplugged it printed maybe one sheet and then started printing just a little bit of one paper and then shooting off to the next page and just consuming paper - very weird - printing and wasting lots of paper. printing a little bit and then going to the next sheet without finishing

It seems to work as long as I have the USB mouse unplugged and the USB mp3 player unplugged....strange... like it literally started printing once I unplugged the USB mouse

I had to unplug and replug in the USB cord for the printer for it to start printing... (?) - I think the USB MP3 player really screws up the USB printer things...weird...

When I plugged in my printer just now it made '4' bell sounds - and it also interrupts Napster from working - like the USB ports conflict with each other or something.....

I'm having problems with the USB where it will constantly make noise as though I'm plugging it in and then unplugging it - and I don't recall that problem happening when I've had previous printers - or I just feel like this printer may be faulty somehow (I bought it from Radioshack) or mabye because I'm using a laptop something on the motherboard is just crapping out on me - who knows....
