I have a Compaq Presario and I recently uninstalled Windows ME from my comp. and installed win 98 through fdisk. Now my comp. is completely screwed up and I'm pretty sure I need to find drivers for a lot of my hardware. I opened up my comp. to find my graphics card so I can search for a driver and realized I have no idea where to find it. Can anyone tell me how to find my video card and the FCC ID number, manufacture name, serial number, etc. off of it? Thanks.

I have a pc. On the sticker, there are a few numbers. I'm sorry I'm very inexperienced so I'm not sure which ones would be of use, but here are a couple: the product key is
and the number directly under the first barcode is 00029-043-518-672. Guess that's not useful but I thought I'd include it just in case. Also, I'm fairly sure I have the 5000 series. Thanks so much in advance for helping out and if you need any more information, just ask.

Sorry it wouldn't let me type the product key that's why there's a blank.

Now enter the compaq site : http://web14.compaq.com/falco/sp_list.asp

At section Desktop PC's and find presario 5000
Apart from the model it asks me for a sub-model and there are many.Find it from the sticker and mach it with the one from the drop down menu.
If you can manage it you can put out the card with a screwdriver and read on it the name of the chipset.Or on the very very begining when you boot your pc it flashes the name and the chipset of the card for 1 second. If you are lucky you can see it

On the chip it will write something like
TNT/Riva/TNT2/Diamond viper 550/Voodoo3/

Let me know as many as much there are written on the black chipset.

i wish i helped you.i wait for response and questions

P.S. As i think your card must be Diamond Viper 550 if it is this one that it is written on the chipset, then the win 98 drivers can be found here: ftp://ftp.diamondmm.com/pub/display/viper/viper_v550/v550_w9x_368.exe
