I have had IE7 for a while now and worked fine but I decided to download and install IE8 from the official Microsoft website, my computer met all the requirements and I therefore went ahead with installing it. On doing so, now, I cannot open any pages in the Windows IE8 browser, even trusted websites such as Google and other mainstream travel websites and the like. The error message I get is "Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage", I have done the Diagnose connection problem and it is fine, no errors there. I have also cleaned my system up just in case. McAfee window popped up a few times inquiring if I wish to give this particular server access re: Windows Explorer.exe outbound access and I accepted and granted full access as it is all above board. I have also logged off and re-started my computer a few times, as you do when a new programme or application is installed and was hoping that the problem would sort itself out. I have followed most simple steps to rectify this problem but still don't seem to be able to. I am on a Dial-up connection (don't laugh! AOL - long story..!), anyhow, I have just noticed near my usual Dial Up connection in the "Networks Connection" folder that, another connectivity folder now present, which I didn't have before! It is called "Internet (2) WAN Miniport (ATW)" And it says 'connected' just like my Dail-up. Even if I disconnect it, it quickly reconnects, not sure why. Could this new thing (drive) be causing the problems? Also, I have removed the Ad-ons by following the simple instructions, so I'm pretty sure that it can't just be that, if at all. Can anyone help! I have a good DELL system with lots of memory! I am a little worried to remove IE8 and reinstall IE7, however am willing to do this, if absolutely necessary - please advice. Oh, I am using Windows XP, Service pack 3. Thank you for your time. Renee
