Hi.

I'm trying to install a radeon 9700 pro on my parents computer and for the life of me I can't understand why it won't let me. It used to have an Nvidea card of some kind installed.

My first step was the uninstall the nvidea drivers. Then I turned the computer off, plugged in the 9700 pro and restarted. Then I installed the 6.1 catalyst drivers and restarted again. When I did so, I was immediately greeted with an error message that "CLI" (or something similar) failed to execute. I go to take a look at my display settings in the ATI control panel only to get the same message every time I click it. Although the drivers seem to be installed (they appear in add/remove programs), they are clearly not, owing to the fact that I can't go above 1024*768 resolution and half of my desktop icons are invisible. I also can't run anything that usually requires a graphics card.

So I downloaded driver cleaner professional and used that to get rid of any lasting trace of drivers from either nvidea or ATI and restart again. I install the catalysts again, restart, and the same thing happens.

So I try the omega drivers, same problem. I uninstall them, and that leads us to the present. I have never had problems like this before... even when COMPLETELY clear of any drivers the card refuses to install.

Please help me, I don't know what else to try!

uninstall any video driver...put the new card...goto bios by hitting F2 ...load default...for one page bios--turn all the lights on i.e,scroll lock+caps lock+num lock and hit alt+e key together u'll hear a beep sound ...then hit alt+f key ..u'll hear a beep sound...then hit esc key...and choose save and exit.IF U HAVE a five page bios then...hit F9 select load default...then hit F10 choose save and exit...now restart the computer and put the radeon driver...it should work if it doesn't gimme ur mail id i'll send u the driver so tht u can run it...bobby.
