I have a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop that had worked in the past, but now it does not. I've tried to do as much troubleshooting as possible to fix the problem and i think I've centralized it. to either a hardware problem, specifically with my sound card, or with the sound card's drivers. When I load windows 2000 onto my computer and do a custom setup, and do not install the soundcard drivers my computer works fine, except for not having sound of course. when i do a complete installation or try to install xp at all it gives me problems. With 2000 it goes incredibly slow and never fully loads, with xp it goes incredibly slow and when it finally does load it asks me for a login password for my account even though i never made one. I need help here. I'm kind of lost for ideas here, and i want to know if theres any way to fix this without completely replacing the motherboard/soundcard
