help.....can't instally my modem on win xp. got driver from elsa 1.08 win xp but still doesn't work.

Yeah, I agree, it doesn't work. Strangely enough, it does work on my notebook (also running XP).
Anybody going to bother to sort this out? I only bought the modem to get round the lack of fax capability on my cheapo ISDN card!

I managed to install the (1.08) driver, but when I start surfing on the web I automaticaly get disconnected after a short while (e.g. 2 minutes). Sometimes my system even 'hangs', so that I have to reset my PC. :-/
Does anybody else have this problem?

Yep I get exactly the same problem, works for a couple of minutes and then disconnects. Very annoying.

I had the same problem with the 1.08 drivers until i upgraded my award bios to the latest revision. This fixed the problem along with a few other glitches XP was causing.

Hi!
I had have a lot of trouble to get the modem working. But now, I think I found a suitable driver. Just go to
www.conexant.com
and look for
Modem Driver Assistance...

Like 1.08beta driver from Elsa, the conexant driver seems not to work.
Works for a 3 or 4 minutes and then disconnects or hangs Win XP.
What can I/we do ???
Thanks.

Hi all!
I've got the same problems as describedŽabove (BTW with a German XP). The Modem disconnects after a short time and now and then the computer SEEMS to hang but is acting normal again when I plug out the Modem (the USB cable).
Annoying

I'm spanish and my english isn't very good...
My pc stops with this modem or the connection crashes...
But if i put the command "+MS=V34" in the modem options, and if i start Winamp and I don't close it, the connection is good!
I'm not crazy, it's true... I'm not happy doing that, but i don't know another way to make my modem work...

i had the same problem and i solve it by limiting the maximum rate of transfert to 56 k (instead of 122 k cwich is the default value)

Has anybody got fax receive to work with the Elsa Fun XP drivers?
I think I have prevented crashes (at some cost) by upgrading from a 300 to an 1800 MHz system, but am left without a fax receive facility.
The 1.08 drivers used to slow my system whenever the modem was connected, consuming around 230 MHz of processor power - as well as periodically freezing the system. Other people may therefore be able to overcome both problems by speeding up their systems.

The Elsa.com and elsa.de sites have been down for several weeks - I need to get hold of the Win2000 driver for ELSA Microlink 56k fun USB - does anyone know an alternative source.

In reply to your question, Jill...
My recently purchased Elsa 56k Fun USB CD has the following files in its Driver\W2000 directory...
El22802.cat
EL22802.CTY
EL22802.INF
WINACUSB.sysIf you search for WINACUSB.sys in http://www.driverguide.com/, you should be able to download a copy.
The XP version works as a modem, but I still can't get fax receive going. If anybody has experience of this, can they let me know.
