I recently installed ME on a friends machine. He has an old creative dvd drive. It's a 5X and has a Dxr2 decoder card with it. Is there a driver for this card for ME? Also ME doesn't recognize the drive as a DVD drive, just CD-Rom. What's the deal with that?

Im looking for exactly the same thing you are looked everywhere cant seem to find drivers, ill kep on looking if i find some ill mail them to you if you do please mail them my way or tell me where i can download them thx

I have the 5x creative dvd but no decoder card...ME picks up my dvd fine..but I can't seem to play a dvd movie on my system...any free software out there to enable me to do that?

hi ive been having the same problem. i havent been able to find any drivers for the Dxr2 board for windows ME. when i try to play a movie using the PC-DVD program it says it cannot find the card. i tried to contact creative but they said the card is not going to be suppored in Windows ME and that there are no plans to develop drivers. so i am forced to use a software decoder but i only have a Pentium II 333Mhz so the video isnt smooth and sound quality poor. I found one site http://www.visualdomain.net/ offering firmware upgrades but there is very little documentation and i dont know if it will work.

ive got the same problem with my 5x/dxr2 kit
running Win XP.
(Win2000 drv. 'works'...but with many flaws)in answer to the other questions:
dont the win98 drivers work? (on ME)dont recognice 5x? ..try getting a
firmware upgrade for it...
preferably a regionfree one..i did ;-)to anyone else with the creative 5x/dxr2 kit:
get Remote Selector at www.visualdomain.com

So it's not only me.
I'm buying a new dvd rom.
What a waste of time it was trying to make this thing work with Windows me.

Well get win2K og XP. thats just better.
the drivers is at ftp.(europe).creative.com the download from the site sux anyway..Or is it creative that SUX.. ;-) well anyway there is lots of stuff out there so just type www.google.com and search for "creative regionfree" and BAM ´there U go!
Still probs post here again and I`ll have a look at the links!
