My NEC ND-1300 DVDRW+/- drive has stopped recognising R or RW DVDs in the drive only CDRW are acknowledged. If I put a DVD RW or R in and then go to my computer the drive is no longer a DVDRW it shows CD Drive and the disk inside is not recognised at all but one of the DVD RW disk came up saying it was a DVD ROM. My drive has up to now recognised the disks and I have rewritten onto them before. I have tried using new blank RW and R DVDs but they are not recognised either ony CDs. I have the current Firmware and have uninstalled and installed the driver to no avail. I use Roxio and its software is up to date too. Has anyone got any ideas please.

How bizarre. I have the exact same problem with my DVD drive. I have a LG GSA-4082B and have had it for over a year. It gets a lot of use and in the last few days it isnt recognising any disc that I put in, blank or otherwise. WIERD!

Someone suggested I Go to the microsoft. See how you get on Go to search knowledge page type DVDRW and press the arrow at the bottom right of page. the first subject is Windows XP does not recognise a DVDRW disk. There are lots of tweaks to try in there. Im having a go. Good luck
