OK...Afreey dvd-rom is not recognized as such. Right clicking my computer/prop/dev. manager/cd device+/highlighting dvd/ reads as dvdrom 1.01...properties views it as cdrom. Updating driver doesn't work, as the message is that I am currently using the best driver. Downloaded driver from afreey, and it unzipped into c:\windows\temp\dvd-ide.exe....I removed the drive from the system, and re-installed it in order to apply the new driver....windows still sez it's a cd-rom...any suggestions?

hi
"c:\windows\temp\dvd-ide.exe" did you run dvd-ide.exe ? if not do so i would think ,did it come with instruction to load update driver.
you may need to first delete cd in control panal/device manager . run the program and then reboot.
