Ok here is the problem......when i put in a dvd in my compaq presario 1400t it will play the sound of the movie but not the movie itself then it will prompt that i need to change the screen resolution and color display changed that and nothing then at onw point it said that i did not have a dvd decoder got one of them the dvd software that i have used is inactual,windvd 2000,and pcfriendly and then when i go play a video or any other movie type file it is just black and no sound......i tried updating my video driver, and dvd driver.......please help no else has been able to help me...PLEASE

i have the exact opposite problem.
go into control panel
choose systems
choose cdrom
click on your dvd drive
choose settings
tick box marked DMA
this fixed mine so now i will either have to learn to lip read or hope someone can help me get sound!
