dvd rom drive not working

I have a dell inspiron b130 and when I put cds or dvds into the dvd rom drive it plays them fine. But my daughter and I were watching Lady and the Tramp (on a dvd player on tv) and one of the special features said to put the dvd into the dvd rom drive on the computer, so we did that but it seems it is only recognizing the other features still. When we went to the special feature that had told us to put the dvd into the computer it still said the same thing 'place this dvd in the dvd rom drive in your computer'.
