DVD ROM doesn't work

I had bought a LG dvd rom driver gh22np20. I had install it as well, but it doesn't work. I download the last firmware but the task show me an error "while writing in buffer". I boot it in Safe Mode and it works good, and I complete the update without errors. Thinking about a software conflict problem I had format the system, using the driver. Unfortunatly it still don't work. Is that a problem of Windows XP?
