Comment:

I recently installed dvd drive in a dell. The dell never had a dvd drive.

The drive shows as a dvd drive in my computer and device manager, but cannot play DVD's.

I think that my video card should work as a decoder. It is a 32mb NVIDIA GeForce2 MX.

The DVD drive works on my compaq but it came with a dvd drive factory installed. The dell camer witha CDrw Drive.

Why cant the DVD drive play Dvd's on the Compaq, but not work when put in the Dell?

Please help.

Don't be too sure that your card will act as a decoder - I don't think GeForce2 cards were. Also, what software are you trying to play the DVDs with? Media Player requires a hardware decoder, or you need something like Power DVD or WinDVD
