i have Pinnacle PCTV and i want the driver for the windows XP. I have a cd which dont have the hardware driver for pctv. i can run studio pctv but cant run pctv vision. the driver in the original pctv cd is not registered. so please tell me where to get this driver. thanks

After about a full day of searching I finally decided to go out on a limb and download the PCTV Rave 5.10 software, and it works very well.. It actually cleared up a lot of the little problems that Studio 4.02 had. You can get them on the Pinnacle website. Don't worry that they are from the german site becuase they work great here in the U.S. If you have any question feel free to e-mail me.

Hard to find it on the pinnacle site, but eventually i found this text:
Products which are compatible with Windows XP
Name Software version (or later)
PCTV rave 4.02a
Studio PCTV 4.02a (note 1)
Studio PCTV pro 4.02a (note 1)
PCTV Sat 1.2 (2.5 available on the Web)
etc....
Note 1: The Studio 1.X application included in these products is not compatible with Windows XP. To use Studio with these products an upgrade to Studio version 7 is required. You can upgrade to Studio 7 at the Pinnacle on-line store by clicking here.

I just tried to install the soft on the disk (version 4.02) and ignored all the warnings that it was not windows xp compliant and might damage my system.

Well it worked! and I am now watching TV. Initially I had no sound until i realised that i have to plug the jack lead from the sound output of the TV card into my audio input of the sound card on the pc. Now works fine. But I can not figure out how to get the radio working.

No, it doesn't work properly on XP. Poor support is the sign of pinnacle. My conclusion: I will NEVER buy any Pinnacle products again in my life time !

I run WinXP and am a digital video hobbyist. I use the Pinnacle PCTV 4.02 software and everything runs great. I use a program from PureMotion (older version, not available anymore - the old one was mucho better; I use it because it can capture AVI 2.0) and regularly capture video at 640x480, 24bit RGB color. Even at this 28MB/s video capture, the drivers work smoothly!

I'm not sure what all of your problems are from, but be sure to let it replace any files is prompts warnings for and ignore the incompatibility warnings if you get them (I never got any XP warnings). You may not have been to Windows Update yet, as there was a Program Compatibility update along with several security updates that you may be interested in. Installing these patches may allow you better luck with the PCTV software!

You can go to the pinnacle site (www.pinnaclesys.com), then use products >> by name. Pick PCTV (I've got RAVE) then to product support on the left. There you can download drivers

from the above address I downloaded the driver - around 27MB. It was supposed to be for winXP. But I have win 2000. I gave a try... it installed very smoothly.
