Drivers for the standard PCI graphics ad

Comment:

I have setup windows 98 second edition on my new PC which has an Acer 54el display monitor and the above mentioned display adapter. However after setup it can only display 16 colour on the monitor yet previously it could display all colors. This happened after I had reformatted my hard disc. I am trying therefore to obtain the drivers for the standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA) since the windows drivers for this device are not giving me all the colors.
Thanks.

The machine I am using is not connected to the internet. I therefore wanted to save the drivers for the standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA) on a diskket.

I had the same problem. I have a Presario 7400 on Win98SE which died and I had Win2000 installed..should have kept with 98SE, but anyway I only had 16-bit colour also. I found a Trident Blade 3D graphics driver on the net which I downloaded and I now have 32-bit and 256 colours again. Best bet is to contact your computer brand helpdesk (if you have one)and ask them which VGA is compatible for your particular computer.

A friend of my had the same problem and brought his pc to me to work it out. I spent a whole morning trying to fix the problem but finally solved it.
Everyone may have different pci display adaptors so the aswers will be differnt for each case. Just go to this direction and follow instruction for your case.

find out what type of graphics card you have and go to their website to get the latest ones. Ex. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, then go to www.nvidia.com and download the latest detonator drivers. Same with Voodoo or anything else.

This worked for me to increase color options and change screen area settings:

1. Right-click the desktop, then choose Properties from the pop-up menu.
2. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab, then click Advanced.
3. Select the Adapter tab, make a note of the Adapter Type the computer is currently using, then click Change.
4. In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.
5. Select "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want," then click Next.
6. Select Show All Hardware.
7. Select Super VGA from Standard display types; make sure that correct Windows' CD is in drive so appropriate drivers are used.

I've never met anyone with the exact same problem as me before! I reformatted my computer and now I'm looking for the same driver that everyone else appears to be looking for. I need the driver for the Standard ATI graphics adapter (VGA) because my computer will only work in 16 colors and on the standard display of 640 X 800 (I Think) pixels. If anyone knows where to find the driver, please email me. Liox9@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Thank you for you post on finding a video driver for the Standard pci adapter. I was able to download a driver my system recognizes. The new problem is that when I adjust my color settings up from 16 colors when I restart I get a "Fatal exception at 0Din 032F:00005603. My computer will not accept any color setting above 16 colors. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks again for getting me this far.

...had the same hangup after re-formatting my C drive, being limited to 16 colors + low resolution.
This worked for me: I unplugged the video card from the PCI slot, wrote the Maker name and Model # down, went to www.driverguide.com (free registration), looked up what I needed:

in my case ---- Driver type: Video Adapter
Model: SIS6326
OS: Win98
Driver name: 326win98.exe

Downloaded this driver file set, activated the Setup.exe file, and am delighted to have fully functioning High color and resolution!
