Comment:

I just reinstalled my OS and when I logged on, there was only one colour option (16 colour) available. So I downloaded the DELLMON.exe driver from Dell [my monitor is Dell E771p]. The insructions for installation said to go to Display > Settings > Advanced > Monitor > Properties > ..., but Properties is disabled and I cannot select it. Is there a way I can get around this, or another way to install the driver?

I think what has happened is that your system, following your reinstallation of your OS, is now using the Windows default video settings and require the updated drivers for your video/graphics card (not the monitor). Do you still have the driver disk for the card?? If not (or perhaps you never had it??) a return to the Dell site will be needed.
